Sabbatical Grants

Sabbath rest is essential to the work of ministry. CBF Texas urges congregations and partner organizations to create sabbatical leave policies, so that their staff can take significant time away from the demands of their work in order to be restored and renewed. Such rest has a significant impact on ministers, their families, and the congregations and organizations that they serve.

To encourage this practice, staff of CBF Texas congregations and partner organizations are invited to apply for a grant to fund sabbatical activities. Four grants of $1000 each will be awarded.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants should be anticipating a sabbatical of at least four consecutive weeks in 2025. Suggested activities to be considered for funding are pastoral care or counseling, travel or accommodation, retreats, continuing education, study resources, and childcare. This list is not exhaustive, only intended to help applicants think through the potential for the grant’s use. Please download the complete guidelines here:

Applications will be received through January 31, 2025. Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications on February 15, 2025.
